At Compass Homes, we’re committed to exceptional quality, lasting value, and a smooth experience from start to finish. We know building a home can feel overwhelming, so we’ve broken down each stage of the construction process into simple, easy-to-understand steps.
Before any building begins, all paperwork and planning must be complete.
– You’ll meet with Steven and/or Roger to review your contract, design
selections, home plans, plot plan, change orders, etc.
– Engineering work is finalized.
– Permits are submitted to the city or county for approval.
Once this step is complete, we’re ready to begin construction!
This is where the physical work begins.
– The land is cleared and leveled (graded).
– Wooden forms are placed to outline your foundation.
– Plumbing lines that run under the home are installed.
– Inspections are done to make sure everything meets code.
– Finally, the concrete foundation is poured and cured.
Your home starts to take shape.
– The exterior and interior walls go up.
– The roof structure (rafters or trusses) is installed.
– Openings for windows and doors are framed.
At this stage, you can begin to walk through and visualize each room.
We make your home’s weather tight
– Exterior sheathing and roof decking are installed.
– Shingles, windows, and exterior doors are added.
This keeps rain and weather out so interior work can begin.
This is where all the vital systems are installed
– Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and security or audio wiring are run throughout
the home.
– City inspections ensure everything is installed and built safely and
correctly.
Before the walls are covered up
– You’ll meet with Steven or Roger for a pre-drywall walkthrough to review
progress and finalize cabinet drawings.
– The home is insulated to keep it energy-efficient and comfortable.
– Energy inspections confirm proper insulation.
Once this is approved, brickwork and exterior finishes can begin.
The walls come to life.
– Drywall (sheetrock) is installed, taped, and finished.
– Wall texture is applied to prepare for paint.
Interior details are added.
– Cabinets, doors, stair parts, and trim are installed.
– Interior painting begins, bringing color and warmth into your home.
Now your home really starts to look finished.
– Bathroom and floor tile are installed.
– Countertops are delivered and installed in the kitchen and baths.
All the final touches come together
– Plumbing, HVAC, and electrical fixtures are connected.
– Flooring (wood, carpet, etc.) is completed.
– Driveways, walkways, fencing, landscaping, and irrigation are installed.
– Appliances are set in place.
Your home is now ready for inspection and finishing touches.
Your home is complete!
– The city issues a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) confirming your home is
ready to live in.
– You’ll meet Steven or Roger for your New Home Orientation, usually one
week before closing, to review everything and address any final details.
